ILTACON 2021 is coming up the week of August 22 through August 26th, and I’m super excited to get back to the beautiful Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas to see many of my close friends and colleagues that I haven’t seen for the past year.
One of the main side conversations at conferences is the gossip around which company is merging or buying with another company as well as which private equity firm is investing in a company. Naturally the conversation for those not involved in a “deal” goes to asking the question…”how does get a valuation of >.
There has been a recent flurry of activity in the eDiscovery industry with the IPO with DISCO, Lighthouse acquisition of H5, and IPRO acquisition of Zylab just in the last 30 days. Also, the private equity investment continues pouring into the legal technology market.
There are few resources for people to understand the mergers and acquisitions (M&A), private equity, and valuation game. My typical go-to resource for tracking investments, mergers, and market sizing is Rob Robinson’s Complex Discovery website which captures publicly available information and articles about the legal tech industry. This is a great place to start, but it’s a challenge to understand the private equity and M&A business unless you’ve been through the process.
This takes me back to ILTACON 2021. I was asked by ILTACON panel organizer, Brad Mixner, to moderate a first of its kind panel titled Never Too Big to Fail? Venture Capital, Mergers and Acquisitions in the E-Discovery Industry to explore this complex topic.
Joining me on this exciting panel are:
- Nick Baughan, Managing Member at Marks Baughan
- Michael Bryant, Partner at Knox Capital Holdings
- Tim Opsitnick, General Counsel at TCDI
- Kent Teague, Chairman & CEO of Lineal Services
As a moderator, I am always interested in getting feedback about what people are interested in learning, and we want your questions!!!!
I hope to see you in Vegas or that you join via the livestream!!! The details and summary of the panel are below, and I hope many people will attend.
